A high-level US delegation led by Charles R Rivkin, Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs, called on Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Wednesday. The team also held a meeting with business representatives in Ahmedabad to discuss business ties and promotion of clean energy technology.
“Met a delegation from USA led by Charles Rivkin. During our meeting, we also spoke on probable collaboration between Gujarat-California for reduction of greenhouse gas & mitigation of air pollution,” the Chief Minister tweeted after the meeting in which top officials of the government also were present.
“We also talked about possibility of partnership in areas including clean energy and entrepreneurship and investment opportunities in Gujarat for US companies,” Ms Patel said. According to the officials, the Chief Minister also invited the US delegation members to participate in the Gujarat’s Vibrant Investment Summit in January 2017.
“The Chief Minister also briefed the delegation about Gujarat’s ambitious Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) and the Gujarat International Finance Tech City (GIFT), both projects offer huge opportunities in manufacturing, clean energy and finance technology,” a statement issued by the Chief Minister Office (CMO) stated.
Ahead of next year’s investment summit, the government is set to open a business facilitation desk in New York.
The US delegation is part of Road2innovation tour in India. “In Ahmedabad meeting with business and government groups, focusing on nurturing innovation in clean energy technology in India as part of Road2Innovation tour,” tweeted US consul general office in Mumbai.
